The property, bought by the city years ago for a parking garage, has been a topic of debate for the last ten years. At one point, the council was debating whether a theatre or a hotel would be the best use of the porperty. The council chose a hotel and a developer was brought in.
After a few more years of discussion, the developer decided that building a hotel on the site would not be a financially viable project, it was pulled an city staff decided to put the property on the market and to look at what type of projects potential developers propose.
Of course, it will take a few years to get a project off the ground and begin constructin, so stay tuned. LAVA
